New technology for processing titanium nickel wire
The Material Research Institute of Tohoku University in Japan has successfully developed a new process for processing titanium nickel shape memory wire, which is called cladding chip extrusion method.
The technological process of this processing method mainly includes the following basic steps:
1、Multilayer composite sheets composed of different metal sheets are prepared by cladding rolling. The thickness ratio of various metal layers depends on the determined chemical composition.
2、The rolled composite sheet is cut into chips, and then the chips are filled into a container to make a blank.
3、The blank is extruded into a fine rod and then processed into fine wires.
4、Through thermal diffusion treatment, the fine wire is transformed into the desired titanium nickel intermetallic compound wire.
Using this process, the machinability of the composite can be improved, and the filaments with good microstructure can be obtained with a high reduction rate.
